[Korean Farmers' News, Reporter Iginoh] The Central Regional Office of the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (Head of Regional Office No Young-ho, hereinafter referred to as the Central Regional Office) will compost and provide free of charge to local farmers in Ganghwa County the 33 tons of illegal imported agricultural products seized during the special quarantine period for the Lunar New Year this year. According to the "Plant Quarantine Act," illegal imported agricultural products can be disposed of by composting if no plant pests are detected in the plant quarantine results. Considering public interests such as environmental protection, budget savings, and contributions to the local community, the Central Regional Office decided to compost and utilize the agricultural products seized during the special quarantine period of last Lunar New Year instead of disposing of them by incineration as before. The Central Regional Office will dispose of the seized agricultural products as waste.
