Vietnam is experiencing an outbreak of VDNC disease in cattle, with over 600 clusters and 1,340 infections reported in Chau Duc district alone. The disease, which causes rapid and dangerous symptoms, has led to 149 cow deaths. Despite knowledge of the outbreak, some farmers have neglected vaccination. However, prompt vaccination and intervention have led to recovery in many cases. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is coordinating emergency measures, including guidance for vaccination and implementation of other prevention strategies. A total of 866 outbreaks have been recorded across the province, with a mortality rate for infected cows being low. The department is also overseeing inspection and supervision of livestock and animal disease situations, controlling trade and transportation of infected animals, and providing disinfection and sterilization for outbreak areas.
