China is the world leader in quince cultivation, occupying 55.2% of the global planting area, followed by Iran and Turkey, which account for 7.7% and 7.6% respectively. The global quince planting area has seen a significant increase of 13.6%, reaching 93,699 hectares in the 2019-2020 season. The export of quince is predominantly handled by five countries, led by Turkey with a 41.4% share, despite Russia being the largest importer with a 19% share. The majority of the quince production in Turkey takes place in the provinces Sakarya, Denizli, Bursa, Isparta, Kahramanmaraş and Çanakkale, with Sakarya being the most productive region. The price of quince in the market significantly increases after being stored in icehouses, highlighting the role of these facilities in the supply chain.
