Sheep and goat farmers in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region are conducting a livestock census as part of efforts to rebuild the livestock industry and rehabilitate the red meat sector. The census, which is part of the national livestock census for 2024, is being conducted in coordination with various partners and aims to collect accurate and up-to-date data on the national sheep and goat herd, its composition, and geographical distribution. The data will be used to achieve food security and restructure the livestock industry. So far, 71 of the 122 rural communes have been covered, and all breeders and sector stakeholders are encouraged to engage with the census teams to ensure its success.
