Prolonged precipitation, especially in the western regions of Ukraine, is delaying the sowing of winter wheat and the harvesting of sunflower and soybeans, causing farmers to hold back on sales and increasing prices for Ukrainian agricultural products. According to the Ministry of Economy, as of October 9, Ukraine has harvested 33 million tons of grain from the new crop from 67% of the threshed areas, including 3.4 million tons of corn from 15% of the areas with a yield of 5.4 t/ha, although a year ago at this time 10.6 million tons were harvested from 48% of the areas with a yield of 5.58 t/ha. The collection of oilseed crops is also delayed, and currently: 3.4 million tons of sugar beets have been harvested from 35% of the areas with a yield of 49.8 t/ha.
