According to data from the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea), the average price of corn available in the state registered a drop for the first time in over two months, reaching R$ 46.88/sc. The weekly decline of 0.91% represents the lowest value since the week of September 22 to 26. In the external market, the reference of the current CME Group contract for corn also suffered a depreciation of 0.38% compared to the previous week, ending the period at US$ 4.29/bushel. This negative trend in Chicago is attributed to the ample global supply of the cereal and the high stocks in the United States, putting pressure on international prices. In relation to the same period in 2024, the price of corn in Mato Grosso is 15.55% lower. According to Imea, this difference is mainly explained by the significant growth in state production, which advanced by 17.06% in the 2024/25 crop and reached 55.43 million tons.
