Reduction in Moldovan potato acreage expected

Directors of the Association of Potato Growers of Moldova hope that large growers will reconsider their plans to reduce potato acreage this year. In the fall of 2021, about a third of all large potato growers on dozens of hectares announced plans to partially switch to grain cultivation. However, due to the drought in the autumn, the total area of winter crops for the 2022 harvest decreased by almost 100,000 ha. It is hoped that during the spring planting season, growers will not shrink the acreage for potatoes and vegetables too much when they focus on sunflowers and maize.
