Indonesia: Rejecting additional imports of garlic

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan assessed that until now Indonesia still does not need to increase the portion of imported garlic. The minister, who is familiarly called Zulhas, assessed that currently the stock is still available. "Those who know the stock are me. Don't worry about importing. We will reduce imports that can disrupt our economy," said Zulhas when met at the Indonesia Saudi Business Forum, Jakarta, Tuesday (30/5/2023). Based on the Prognosis of the January-December 2023 National Food Balance, the national demand for garlic in a year is around 652 thousand tons.
