Romanian dairy processors collect more milk and reduce imports

Regarding production, the largest increase was recorded for cheese (+1.6%) while the production of acidified dairy products (yoghurt, drinking yoghurt, buttermilk and other similar dairy products) saw the largest decrease (-9.4%). The quantity of raw milk imported by processors decreased by 38.3% in the period 1 January - 31 May 2023 compared to the period 1 January - 31 May 2022. In May 2023 compared to the previous month, the quantity of cow's milk collected by processing units increased by 16.7%. Production of acidified dairy products recorded the highest increase (+29.5%). The quantity of raw milk imported by processing plants decreased in May 2023 compared to the previous month by 1.9%.
