RS after the cyclone: Civil Defense records damages in more than 30 municipalities

Since Friday (7), the instability caused by an extratropical cyclone has brought strong winds, heavy rain, and hail to various regions of Rio Grande do Sul. At least 39 municipalities registered some type of damage between Friday (7) and Saturday (8), according to a report released by the State Civil Defense on Sunday morning (9). The most intense gusts in the last 12 hours were recorded in Planalto, in the northern part of the state, reaching 95 km/h, according to the State government's Monitoring Center. Other cities also experienced strong winds throughout the event. The Vales Region concentrated the largest precipitation totals. In Ilópolis, 155 mm of rain fell in 12 hours. In Anta Gorda, the volume reached 143 mm in the same period; in Tapera, 128 mm. These totals contributed to localized flooding and urban and rural disruptions.
