The Stavropol Territory in Russia is seeing an increase in walnut cultivation, with the area under cultivation now covering about 600 hectares. This includes both industrial and personal subsidiary plots, and the area under walnut crops has grown by 48 hectares in the past five years. The region's climate is not ideal for walnut growth, but some districts are finding it suitable. The LLC 'SMT' enterprise in the Kochubeevsky district and OSK LLC in the Novoaleksandrovsk District plan to plant additional walnut areas this year. Walnut cultivation is considered profitable due to low maintenance requirements and a long cultivation period, although there is a long payback period for the project. The Stavropol Territory also has the potential to grow other nut crops such as hazelnuts and almonds.
