North Korea may receive up to 700 thousand tons of rice from Russia in exchange for its participation in the war against Ukraine, according to former South Korean ambassador to Russia, Woo Sung-luck. This could help North Korea address its financial and food crises, as it currently produces only about two-thirds of the grain needed to meet its annual demand. The country could also compensate for the food shortage by trading arms with Russia. Each North Korean soldier sent to Russia is reported to earn $2,000, and there are currently around 4,000 North Korean workers in Russia.
