In May 2024, Russia's citrus fruit imports from Turkey saw a significant decline, with a 50% overall decrease. Orange imports plummeted by 93% year-on-year to 77 tons, reducing their share in total imports from 10% to 1%. Lemon imports also fell by 67% to 2,200 tons. Conversely, grapefruit imports surged fivefold to 2,900 tons, now constituting 52% of total imports. Despite the decline, lemons remain popular, making up 40% of total imports. Turkish citrus fruits account for about 11% of the citrus fruits in Russian retail chains, with oranges comprising 23-25% of the total.
