Salmon sales in the UK are on the rise, with the fish making up 29.6% of total fish sales in the year to October, up from 28.9% the previous year. Scottish salmon exports have also reached over £500 million in the first three quarters of 2022, with 76% of these exports going to the EU. Despite Brexit-related challenges, Scottish salmon remains the UK's top food export. The sector has had a successful year, despite economic challenges, and is expected to meet high demand during the Christmas period.
