Sarhad Dairy, also known as the Kutch District Milk Producers Union, recently held a symposium to discuss the therapeutic benefits of camel milk and strategies to popularise it. The event was part of the United Nations' International Year of Camelids celebrations. Sarhad Dairy, which established India's first automated camel milk processing plant in 2019, collects about 5,000 litres of camel milk daily from 350 families. The milk is used to produce various products, with more under development. The symposium also noted the increase in the procurement price of camel milk from Rs. 20-25 per litre to Rs. 52 per litre, thanks to Sarhad Dairy's efforts.
