Saudi Arabia suspends 5 refrigerators in Brazil after cases of 'mad cow'

Saudi Arabia suspended beef imports from 5 slaughterhouses located in Minas Gerais after Brazil registered two atypical cases of "mad cow" earlier this month, informed the Ministry of Agriculture on Tuesday (14). The state was one of the places where the case was identified on the 6th of this month. The second infected animal was in Mato Grosso. Both are atypical contamination, which occurs by a genetic mutation and, therefore, does not indicate infection of the entire herd. Brazil, the largest beef exporter in the world, had already had its exports to China paralyzed for 11 days. The measure was taken automatically after the first case of the disease was identified and there is no forecast for a return to marketing.
