The Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority (SFPA) has published a new Food Safety Information Notice on managing norovirus risks in oysters. The notice, issued in collaboration with the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), aims to reduce the incidence of contaminated oysters in the market and minimise norovirus-related illnesses. The SFPA is reminding shellfish producers of the comprehensive guidance to mitigate the risk of norovirus contamination in oysters, developed by the SFPA, FSAI, the Marine Institute, and Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM).
