Brazilian exports of soluble coffee reached the equivalent of 2,508 million 60 kg bags from January to August, to 88 countries, a volume 3.9% lower than that recorded in the first eight months of 2024 (2,610 million bags). "This performance already has the impact of the 50% tariff imposed by the United States government for the entry of the national product into the country," stated in a statement the executive director of the Brazilian Soluble Coffee Industry Association (Abics), Aguinaldo Lima.
In terms of foreign exchange revenue, however, the performance is positive, with the inflow of US$ 760.776 million being 33% higher than the amount recorded between January and August 2024 (US$ 572.130 million).
"When we analyze the values, we notice that the growth is due to the high prices of coffee as a whole, including soluble, in the international market, which leads us to believe that we may exceed US$ 1 billion in 2025, surpassing the US$ 950 million of last year and setting a new historical record," estimated Lima.
