Seventeen kilograms of shredded chicken and beef jerky packets have tested positive for the African swine fever (ASF) virus in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The products were found in the dorm room of a Vietnamese migrant worker. The police suspect that the ASF-infected meat could have been imported by two Vietnamese women who were later detained for smuggling. Taiwan is on high alert for ASF following the seizure of 71 kilograms of banned meat products from Vietnam in New Taipei, which also tested positive for the virus.
