The Netherlands has seen a 4% decrease in its pig population in 2021, falling to nearly 11.4 million animals, due in part to agricultural schemes aimed at reducing ammonia emissions. The cattle population remained stable, while the number of dairy goats slightly increased to 482,000. Sheep numbers fell to 848,000, and the poultry stock decreased by 2% to around 100 million animals. This decrease was primarily due to a 4% drop in broilers.
