The Deputy Minister of Commerce in Thailand, Mr. Sinit Lertkrai, has announced a collaborative effort between the Department of International Trade Negotiations and Commerce Ambassadors from the southern border provinces to boost income for farmers and entrepreneurs. This initiative will use online seminars to promote the export of key products like fruit, processed seafood, rubber, and batik fabrics, targeting Malaysia and the ASEAN market. The goal is to leverage Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), including the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), to increase export competitiveness and support farmers by emphasizing product quality, safety, and traceability. This strategy builds on the success of Thai-ASEAN trade, which in 2020 reached 110 billion US dollars in value, with significant growth observed since the implementation of the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement.
