South Chungcheong Province in South Korea is planning to double its sea cucumber production by 2026, investing 28.8 billion won to create an eco-friendly spawning and habitat in the Boryeong and Taean waters. Sea cucumbers, known for their nutritional and medical value, have been facing a decline in production due to global warming. The province aims to increase production by 100% per year on average through stocking mother and young sea cucumbers, creating a suitable habitat, and establishing a mass production system. This initiative is aimed at increasing the income of fishermen, creating a fishing village, and serving as a new growth engine for the Chungcheongnam-do fisheries industry.
