Experts at the All-Russian Field Day discussed the potential of alfalfa as a crop for animal feed, with Artyom Belov predicting growth in the global feed market due to limited resources and increased milk production. Belov sees opportunities for Russia in this trend, which could lead to new business models in the feed industry. The development of the feed market, including alfalfa, could help mitigate risks associated with climate change and emergencies. However, the success of this business depends on the region's climatic conditions. To start an alfalfa production business, an area of 3.5 thousand hectares and an investment of 1.5-2 billion rubles (or 2.3-3 billion with irrigation systems) are required, with a payback period of 5-7 years.
