A recent survey by Fundação Seade has shown a shift in agricultural trends in São Paulo, with sugarcane production dominating but gradually losing ground to soybeans. In 2017, sugarcane made up 57.1% of the state's production, compared to 48.3% in the previous year, while soybeans increased from 6.5% to 12.1% during the same period. Despite this shift, sugarcane remains the leading crop in ten out of São Paulo's 16 regions. Meanwhile, coffee cultivation has also seen an uptick, rising from 3.2% to 5.1% of total production since 2017.
