GB deadweight pig prices saw marginal gains in December with the EU-spec SPP averaging 200.59p/kg for the four weeks ending 31 December, up 0.29p/kg compared to the previous period. The APP recorded a marginal decline, averaging 204.68p/kg for the four weeks ending 24 December. Estimated GB slaughter for the four-week period totalled 666,300 head, a significant drop compared to the previous period due to the reduced kill over the festive period. Average carcase weights have continued to ease, down 1.35kg compared to the previous four weeks to 87.42kg.
