Farmers in the upstream areas of An Giang and Dong Thap provinces, Vietnam, have developed a profitable model of raising wild fish and shrimp in rice fields, generating income ranging from hundreds of millions to billions of dong annually. This model, adapted to late and low water levels this year, includes cultivating reishi mushrooms and shrimp, and has proven successful despite initial challenges. The local Economic Department is encouraging more households to adopt this model, projecting potential revenues to reach over 1.1 billion VND from one crop and 1 billion VND from two crops of reishi fish and rice, making it a crucial adaptation strategy for local livelihoods.
