An investigation by Chilean, Norwegian and French scientists confirmed the presence of Tenacibaculum piscium in Chile. The study “Isolation, identification, virulence potential and genomic features of Tenacibaculum piscium isolates recovered from Chilean salmonids”, recently published in the prestigious journal Transboundary and Emerging Diseases, is led by Dr. Ruben Avendaño-Herrera, Researcher at Universidad Andrés Bello and INCAR, accompanied by INCAR members, Dr. Mónica Saldarriaga and Rute Irgang, together with part of the Pharmacology in Veterinary Aquaculture research team, FAV, is the first to confirm the presence of Tenacibaculum piscium in Chile, thus expanding its geographical distribution.
