Data from the third survey, for December 2022, were prepared by the Economic Department of the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of the State of São Paulo (FAESP), with data from the National Supply Company (CONAB). “The rainfall returned to normal levels for the period, contributing to the good development of crops. It is good news for producers and the economy of São Paulo and Brazil. After all, the state is the main producer in the country”, says the president of FAESP, Fábio de Salles Meirelles. After São Paulo, the second largest producing state in the country is Goiás, with an estimated production of 71 million tons. In third place comes Minas Gerais, with an estimate of 68 million tons. The area harvested in the state suffered a retraction of 1.4% compared to the previous harvest and amounts to 4.15 million hectares.
