Sweet potato farming in France is on the rise, with the country now accounting for 40% of the sweet potatoes consumed. The rest are sourced from Spain and the US. Xavier Dupuis, a farmer in Les Mureaux, Yvelines, has started growing organic sweet potatoes on a 2000 m² plot of his 111 hectare farm. Despite the increasing popularity, the price of sweet potatoes, at 4.90 euros per kilo, will remain higher than regular potatoes due to the labor-intensive nature of the crop and the need for only intact sweet potatoes to be sold.
