A shipment of a hybrid variety of sugar apples, known as atemoyas, grown by farmers in Taitung, Taiwan, will be exported to Brunei on Sunday. The shipment of 3,000 kilograms will be delivered to six retail stores in Brunei, marking the beginning of exports to the country in response to the suspension of Taiwanese fruit imports by China. This export is part of efforts to find new markets for Taiwanese farmers, who are also exploring domestic channels for distribution. The atemoya is popular in Brunei due to its sweeter taste compared to locally grown custard apples.
