Thailand's shrimp production in 2022 remained steady at 280,000 tons due to disease and adverse weather conditions, with significant losses in certain regions. However, exports reached 122,208 tons, valued at 42,812 million baht, marking a decrease in volume but an increase in value compared to the previous year. The Thai Shrimp Association aims to produce 300,000 tons in 2023, with a goal of increasing shrimp raw material output to 400,000 tons. The industry, which has the potential to generate over 100 billion baht in income, is seeking government support to address shrimp disease and other challenges, emphasizing the importance of sustainable development and economic revival.
