The Turkish agriculture, food, and beverage industry experienced a 35.3% increase in the foreign trade balance in the first 8 months of 2021 compared to the same period in the previous year, with exports reaching $13.8 billion and imports $10.6 billion. The most significant month was August, which saw a 38% increase in exports and a 56.2% increase in imports. The sectors with the highest exports were Sugar and Sugar Products, Nuts, Fresh Fruits, Vegetable Oil, and Fisheries and Aquaculture, contributing 42.8% to total exports. On the other hand, Animal Feed, Vegetable Oil, Flour, Cocoa-Chocolate, and Tobacco and Products were the sectors with the highest imports, accounting for 66.2% of total imports, with the Animal Feed Sector alone contributing 27.8% to total imports.
