Due to restrictions on the import of Russian durum wheat, pasta production in the Kostanay region of Kazakhstan decreased by 10% in 2023. The region also experienced a 16% decline in cereal production due to a shortage of class 3 wheat and raw materials for flour mills. However, other food production indicators in the region saw increases, such as butter production rising by 111% and canned meat production increasing by 99%. Efforts are being made to provide regions with preferential wheat to alleviate the shortage and stabilize prices.
