The Minister of Agriculture, Carmen Crespo, has approved a campaign to promote the consumption of Andalusian lamb for Christmas, highlighting its quality and the importance of the sheep sector to Andalusia's economy, social fabric, and environment. The sector, which accounts for 11% of Livestock in Andalusia and 6% of Spain's production, employs 2 million people and exports to France, Germany, and Arabia Saudi Arabia. The Minister has also mentioned the detection of sheep and goat pox in some areas but emphasized that most areas have now received commercialization freedom. The Ministry has launched aid lines for farmers to help with drought effects.
