The European Commission has recently published the harvest forecasts for cereals, oilseeds and sugar beet. The latest forecast for the total EU cereal production in 2021/22 is 291 million tonnes, an increase of 3.4% year-on-year (+4.1% from the five-year average), due in particular to the recovery of wheat production estimated at 130.6 million tons (+7.3% compared to the five-year average). Corn production is forecast at 69.4 million tonnes, up 2.1% year-on-year (+3.1% from the five-year average). Given the lower production of pork in the EU, feed demand is slightly lower than in the previous campaign, a decrease of 0.18%.
