The decline in wholesale pork prices in Russia is seasonal, as weaker consumer activity is observed after the New Year, industry representatives told journalists. Earlier, the newspaper "Kommersant" reported, citing data from the research company NTech, that the cost of wholesale pork in the period from January 26 to February 1, 2026, decreased by 8% compared to the previous week and by 27% year-on-year. "The decline in wholesale prices currently observed in the market is largely seasonal. After the New Year period, weaker consumer activity is traditionally observed. Overall, the current situation remains predictable: pork is one of the most affordable types of meat, the industry maintains stability, and the balance of supply and demand is gradually leveling out," said Yuri Kovalev, the CEO of the National Union of Pig Breeders.
