The Easter meal in Bulgaria will be about 11 percent more expensive compared to last year, data from the Institute for Social and Trade Union Research and Training at the NSI show. The most significant contribution to the increase is from lamb meat, whose price is rising sharply. For a family of four, the holiday meal reaches about 125 BGN, putting pressure on household budgets. The analysis indicates that despite the announced measures, part of the expenses remain difficult to bear. The main driver of the price increase is lamb meat, which shows an annual growth of about 20 percent. From approximately 26 BGN per kilogram in April 2025, the price this year reaches about 15.99 euros per kilogram. This makes the traditional holiday dish the largest expense for households.
