The FDA has suspended certain regulations on dairy products, specifically yoghurts, following objections raised by the International Dairy Foods Association and Chobani LLC. The objections included restrictions on ingredients, reduced acidity and pH levels, and conflicting demands that may discourage the addition of vitamin D. The FDA is now being asked to update these standards to allow for innovative and nutritious yoghurt products. Some of the contested provisions, such as the requirement for a certain acidity and pH level in yoghurt and the exclusion of ultra-filtered milk as a primary dairy ingredient, have been maintained despite the objections.
