The World Tomato Processing Council has released its forecast for the tomato harvest in various countries, with some revisions due to weather conditions and planting challenges. The forecast for Italy is now 2.5-2.55 million tons, down from previous expectations, while Portugal's forecast remains at 1.5 million tons. Spain's forecast has been increased to 2.9 million tons. In Tunisia, the gross harvest is estimated at 947 thousand tons, but in Ukraine, the forecast has been lowered to 550,000 tons due to lower than expected yields, with 312,000 tons of tomatoes already processed. The dry matter content of fresh vegetables in Ukraine is higher than usual, averaging 5.3 brix.
