The Ministry of Agriculture ordered the opening of the export quota of 20,000 tons of beef to the United States for 2022 and established its distribution criteria, through resolution 266/2021 published today in the Official Gazette. The export quota, established since 2018, determines the shipment of 20,000 tons of boneless, fresh, chilled or frozen beef to the United States, adopting a regime similar to the Hilton Quota established for Europe. From this commercial cycle, the scheme will adopt a series of modifications, starting with resolution 281/2020 of December last year. At that time, the portfolio decided to replace the "first come, first served" criterion that had been applied for "not being optimal when there is a high demand for exports to a specific destination" and for leaving many exporters unable to participate.
