The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries announced on Tuesday the closure of all red shrimp fishing grounds on the Spanish coast as the annual catch limit set by the European Union has been exceeded. However, it announced that it will allow fishing to continue this Christmas on account of the quota set for 2025. The ban will therefore be lifted if the guilds so agree. The resolution to close the fishing grounds, which was sent to all the guilds, indicates that fishing for red shrimp will be prohibited from midnight on Thursday.
