Spain, the world's leading garlic producer, has seen a decrease in the harvest and supply of larger-sized garlic due to hot and dry weather, impacting export competitiveness. Despite this, the total garlic production is expected to be good in quality but with smaller sizes. As a result, imports of garlic have increased by 19% in Hungary from January to August 2022, primarily from Spain. The price of domestically grown large garlic in Hungary has also increased by 17% compared to the previous year.
