On December 8-9, the National Food Industry Standardization Technical Committee Canned Food Sub-Technical Committee Standard Approval Meeting, hosted by the China Food Fermentation Industry Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as "China Food Institute") and undertaken by the secretariat of the Canned Food Sub-Committee, was held in Beijing. Liu Youqian, President of the China Canned Food Industry Association and Chairman of the Canned Food Sub-Committee, Vice Chairmen Yang Xiaoming, Zheng Tiegang, Secretary General Qiu Kai, and Vice Secretary Generals Chao Xi and Wu Chusen, along with over 100 members, industry experts, and enterprise representatives attended the meeting both online and offline. Guo Xinguang, Party Secretary and General Manager of the China Food Institute, attended the approval meeting and delivered a speech. Guo Xinguang stated that standards serve the industry and that formulating a modernized standard system within the traditional standard framework is a key task for the future. To establish a modern standard system oriented towards consumer needs, it is necessary to deeply integrate industrialization with informatization and incorporate advanced concepts such as intelligent manufacturing, green manufacturing, and low-carbon development into the standard scope. The China Food Institute will rely on its various standardization technical committees to collaborate with upstream and downstream forces in the industry chain, promoting overall industry progress and fundamentally transforming the market and consumer perceptions of the traditional industry. Liu Youqian emphasized the importance of standards for the development of the canned food industry and stated that the association will continue to strengthen standard construction and publicity, promote the formulation of key canned food product standards, and revise the "Canned Food Industry Manual." He called on the participating experts to adhere to the principles of scientificity, practicality, and foresight, strictly control standard quality, and jointly promote the high-quality development of the industry. The meeting approved and adopted the national standard "Terminology of Canned Food Industry" and five other industry standards, including "Tomato Flavored Canned Food." Qiu Kai accompanied the committee members on a tour of the China Food Institute's innovation achievement exhibition hall, providing a comprehensive and in-depth introduction to the core technologies and industrialization achievements of the China Food Institute in the fields of food fermentation, biological manufacturing, and standard regulations. In the future, the China Food Institute will continue to fulfill its responsibilities as the secretariat of the Canned Food Sub-Committee, gather industry forces, seize opportunities, face challenges, and drive the standardization process of the canned food industry to new heights, better fulfilling the mission and responsibility entrusted by society.
