Russian agricultural organization, the National Seed Alliance (NSA), has identified overproduction as a problem due to high demand for Russian seeds abroad. Igor Lobach, the chairman of the NSA, highlighted the need for increased investment in the sector, especially with large projects like the sunflower seed production at Shchelkovo Agrokhim. Despite fluctuating annual exports of cereal seeds, ranging from 17-25 thousand tons, Russian breeders face challenges such as high global competition and the inability to register certain varieties and hybrids for export due to their suitability only for markets with different production conditions. This issue will be discussed in the upcoming IX All-Russian Forum of Breeders and Seed Growers, "Russian Field - 2024," in Kazan.
