The number of bivalve mollusk production areas open to hunting in Istanbul has increased to 5, with 3 areas for black mussels and 2 for white clams. The Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry has completed the preliminary classification of the black mussel production area in front of Şile Karaburun, and it is now open for product purchase. To open a hunting area, individuals and institutions must apply to the relevant provincial directorate, and if approved by the Ministry, monitoring work is initiated and samples are taken for analysis. If the results comply with the legislation for at least 6 months, the area is classified and opened for hunting.
