Leonid Tulush from the Union of Dairy Enterprises of Ukraine highlights a significant decline in Ukraine's cow population, projecting a drop of over 6.5% by 2025, reducing the number to less than 1.2 million from over 2 million in 2018. This decline is accompanied by a nearly 50% reduction in farms and a 20% reduction in enterprises. Despite a 1.4 times increase in cow productivity over the past decade, milk production has decreased from 10.3 million tons in 2017 to an expected 7.3 million tons in 2024, marking a 29% decline. While milk production by enterprises remains stable, household production has plummeted by 43% since 2017.
