Morocco has seen a decrease in demand and a significant price increase for fish products following a reduction in Covid-19 restrictions, leading to economic challenges for those dependent on fish for their livelihood. The high cost of living and transportation have further worsened the situation. Despite these difficulties, those who enjoy fishing for leisure and those who collect mussels to earn a living remain dedicated to their activities. The National Fishing Office reports a 34% increase in the value of products discharged from coastal and traditional fishing for the first eight months of 2021, reaching 5.99 billion dirhams. However, there was a 5% decrease in the weight of unloaded quantities compared to the previous year.
