The president of the Hungarian Bakers Association, József Septe, has highlighted the significant rise in the cost of raw materials, energy, wages, and logistics, which is leading to a surge in the price of bread and bakery products in Hungary. He noted that the price of flour has tripled, gas has increased seven to eight times, and electricity has risen ten to twelve times. These increased costs are being passed on to customers. Despite these price hikes, Hungarian bread remains 73% cheaper than in neighboring countries. The association is also concerned about further increases in raw material prices and the fact that bakery companies have been excluded from discounted fuel prices, leading to further cost increases that will need to be passed on to customers.
