Just as some inundated producers from 9 de Julio had denounced, the ruling party in that district (which is not libertarian or peronista but from the PRO) intended to increase the amount of the Road Tax (which should be used to fix rural roads that are now unusable) by nearly 50% by 2026. "When the ruling party's report proposed an increase of 50%, taking the tax to 10,620 pesos per hectare, we managed to turn that scenario around. The finally approved value was 8,530 pesos per hectare, an increase in line with the annual inflation projected by the Central Bank for 2026, and not the excessive adjustment that was intended to be imposed," reported a statement from the 9 de Julio branch of the Argentine Agrarian Federation.
