Egypt has been approved by the World Organization for Animal Health to be included in the list of countries with bird flu-free facilities, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture. This approval has allowed 38,000 poultry facilities in Egypt to start the process of exporting poultry and its derivatives, with 40 facilities already isolated against bird flu. The country's poultry production includes 14 billion table eggs and 1.4 billion commercial birds annually. The government is also working on an integrated poultry project in Fayoum Governorate to increase egg production and preserve local poultry breeds.
